About the Event
The Henselite Victorian Open is Bowls Victoria’s premier state event, is the largest bowls event in Victoria and second largest in the country. Since its inception in 2011, the event has become a hugely popular event for both professional and grassroots bowlers.
Event Format
Events are played at various venues throughout the Gippsland region of the Latrobe Valley. Both Traralgon and Morwell Bowling Clubs act as the event majors hubs and finals venues. The Vic Open is played over ten days beginning with Sectional play for all events, followed by knockouts and finals.

Bowls Victoria utilises a large number of Bowls Clubs around the Latrobe Valley Region as host venues for the Victorian Open, thank you to our 2023 host clubs who are listed below, with the full 2024 club list coming soon.

The Barb Gilbert Medal
Awarded to the player who accumulates the most points across the Vic Open’s four disciplines; Mixed Pairs, Pairs, Singles and Triples. Formerly the Vic Medal, the winner claims a prize of $2,000!
Ranking Points
The Henselite Victorian Open is a Bowls Australia ranked event and sees the following points assigned to each performance category. The overall winner is calculated using a points system for the last 16 in each discipline.
