Former St Kilda champion Leigh Montagna will head to Shepparton next month for the Steller Victorian Open.
The former defender, who has been playing bowls at the Port Melbourne Bowls Club, will form part of the commentary team for the finals alongside Barrie Lester and Matthew Flapper.
Making the official announcement on Triple M this morning, Montagna is excited to be trying his hand at commentating bowls and experiencing Victoria’s largest bowls tournament.
“Bowls Victoria reached out to me after hearing about my experience at the Port Melbourne Bowls Club, and I was really happy to get involved with the Victorian Open,” said Montagna.
“It’s also a great opportunity to help develop my knowledge of the sport,” he added.

The Steller Victorian Open is Bowls Victoria’s premier state tournament and the largest bowls event in Victoria.
Since its inception in 2011, the event has become a popular playing destination for both professional and grassroots bowlers.
This year the event will see close to 2000 domestic and international bowlers descend on regional Victoria for eight days of competition.
More commentators for the event will be announced shortly.
